MOTHER AND SON KILLED IN CAR ACCIDENT---NOVEMBER 28,1962
Mrs Arthur Turf and her son, Glen Peterson, 11, both of Erie, were killed in a one-car accident early Wednesday morning. The accident occurred on highway 66 about 16 miles east of Needles, Calif.
Arthur Turf, driver of the car, was hospitalized with minor injuries, as was Mrs. Turf's daughter, Marjorie Peterson, 16, who suffered minor injuries to her leg.
Mr. and Mrs Turf and family left Erie Monday morning for California where Mr. Turf is and has been employed for the past two months. Mrs Turf sold her home and household goods last Saturday here in Erie and the family was then going to Ducor, Calif., to make their home.
Mr. Turf dozed and the car went out of control, according to reports received here.

Helen Irene Turf, 41, died Wednesday, Nov. 28 1962, in an automobile accident which occurred 16 miles east of Needles, Calif.
She was born in Fairbury, Neb., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs Lyman Jenkins. When a young girl she came to Kansas with her parents and settled at Salina. In 1937 she came to the Erie community where she had spent the remainder of her life. She was married to Oscar Peterson on May 14, 1943, at Erie. He preceded her in death April 22, 1957.
She was married to Arthur Turf April 29, 1961, and he suvives. Other survivors include one son, Raymond Peterson, who is a student at Kansas State College of Pittsburg; one daughter, Marjorie Peterson, of Erie; her mother, Mrs. Maggie Jenkins, of Parsons; one sister, Mrs. James Lunday, of Erie; and one brother, Lee Jenkins, of R4, Parson. Funeral arrangements were incomplete at press time but were to be announced later by the Pierce Funeral home.
TURF RITES HELD
The funeral services for Mrs. Arthur Turf and her son, Glen Peterson, were held Tuesday Dec. 4, 1962, at 2 p.m. at the Erie Baptist Church with the pastor, Rev. Robert McGuire, officiating.
Mrs Virgil Sexton and Mrs Leland Yarnell, accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Dale Tredway, sang, "In the Garden " and " The Old Rugged Cross."
Ladies arranging flowers were Mrs. Merle Yockey, Mrs Harry Hunt, Mrs. Kenneth Young, and Mrs William Giefer.
Bearers were James Culbertson, Gerald Sexton, Kenneth Sexton, Gerold Sexton, Joe Arthur, and Homer LaRue.
Burial was in East Hill Cemetery under the direction of Pierce Funeral Home.
