Brenda Carolyn Whitlow Bowman was welcomed into Heaven on August 15, 2018. Brenda was born on April 20, 1942 to the late Sidney and Doris Whitlow. She was one of six children. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Sidney Marshall Whitlow and Steven Gregory Whitlow, also two grandchildren, Keith Carter and Becky Pearman and a very special nephew Mark Whitlow.
She is survived by two sisters, Barbara (Nancy) Carlton of Bluefield, VA, Janice and husband Jim Jennings of Panama City, Florida and one brother Phillip and wife Jane Whitlow of Monroe, North Carolina.
Brenda graduated from Pocahontas High School in 1959. She was also the first student to ever skip a grade in Tazewell County. Upon graduation, Brenda married Clifford Bowman. The couple moved to New York where their children were born. They spent many years in New York before returning to Virginia. Brenda is also survived by her loving husband of 59 years Clifford and her four children, Keith and wife Brenda Bowman of Abbs Valley, Jeffrey Bowman of Bland, VA, Denise and husband Allen Richardson of Bland, VA and Scott and wife Desiree Bowman of Greensboro, North Carolina. Also left to cherish her memory are her five grandchildren whom she loved dearly, Jason and wife Pam Bowman, Matthew Bowman, Eric and wife Kaci Scott, Phillip Bowman and late wife Ashley and Leona and husband Josh Huffman. She is also survived by five additional grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Saturday August 18, 2018 at 1:00 pm at the Rodriguez Funeral Home in Pocahontas, VA with Preacher Walt Schwitzerlett officicating. Interment will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA.
