Sidney R. Whitlow, 77 of Abbs Valley died Thursday at Bluefield Hospital.Born in Langraff, he was the son of the late Silas and Hattie Adams Whitlow. He was a retired coal miner for U. S. Steel Coal Mines, and a longtime member of Christ First Methodist Church in Abbs Valley. He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
Survivors: wife Doris Feazell Whitlow; sons, Marshall Whitlow of Las Vegas, Nevada. Phillip of Abbs Valley and Stephen of the home: daughters Nancy Carlton of Norfolk, Va., Mrs Clifford (Brenda) Bowman of Abbs Valley and Mrs James (Janice) Jennings of Panama City, Fl. He was also survived by 14 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 2p.m. Sunday at the Christ First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Wallace B. Morgan and David Simms officiating Burial will be at Grandview Memory Gardens on the Bluefield-Tazewell Road.
