Joyce Sharon Tinsley McCarthy Short, 68, of Inman, SC, passed away Wednesday, February 19th, 2014 at her residence.

Born in Spartanburg, SC on September 17, 1945, a daughter of the late John Rowel and Dorothy Louise (Maxey) Tinsley; wife of Thomas Clayton Short; previously married to John Robert McCarthy, Sr.

Retired from Milliken Coded Products, Whitestone Plant; a member of Bethel Methodist Church in Spartanburg.

Survived by a son, John Robert McCarthy, Jr. of Daytona Beach, FL; stepdaughter, Angie Gizara of Suffolk, VA; brother, Douglas Nolen Tinsley of Spartanburg; aunt, Jeanette Maxey Dean Killen (Phil); two nephews, John Nolen Tinsley (Stacey), Jeffrey Anderson Tinsley (Perry); one granddaughter, two great nephews and two great nieces.

The family received friends Friday, February 21, 2014 from 10:00 - 11 :00 AM at Seawright Funeral Home.

Memorial service followed at Seawright Funeral Chapel at 11 :00 AM with Clautus Champion officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions could be made to Shriners Hospital, 950 Faris Rd. Greenville, SC 29605-4277.
