My Great-Aunt.

Tallie Kohler 106, of Mexico, died at 10:30 p.m., Thursday, October 4, 2012, at the Golden Living Center – Pin Oaks.

Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. on Saturday, October 27, 2012, at the Grand Prairie Baptist Church in Auxvasse, with Pastor Ben Taylor officiating.

Tallie was born on June 15, 1906 in Korostyshev, Russia a daughter of Henry and Lydia (Steltzer) Domke. Tallie emigrated with them to Kansas when she was 5 years old. There, the family had a dairy farm and ranch. When a teen, her family moved to Chicago, IL.

On September 22, 1928 at the First German Baptist Church in Chicago, Ill, she married Helmuth C. Kohler. Mr. Kohler died April 22, 1961.

Survivors include two daughters, Ruth Wokeck and husband Arthur, of Mauldin, SC, and Esther Emerick and Husband Richard of Auxvasse, Mo; one son, James Kohler and wife Karen of Plainville, Il; 10 grandchildren, Scott Kohler, Cheryl Price, Susan Eastland, Donna Wokeck, James Emerick, Deborah Mayo, Carole Woolfolk, Cathy Sterner, Linda Svejkovsky and Irene Locke; 20 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three sisters, Ida Domke, Alice Benson and Lillian Klingsporn and three brothers Herbert Domke, Edward Domke, and Waldo Domke.

Tallie was employed at Scripture Press in Wheaton, Il. She was a member of the Camdenton Bible Baptist Church and Dorcas Guild of First German. She retired at age 67.
