Herschel Hoyt Fath, 84, retired farmer of Hillsboro died Wednesday, April 9, at 6:53 a.m. in Hillsboro Area hospital.
Son of the late Eugene and Matilda Kaburick Fath, he was born on April 9, 1902 in Fillmore. He attended the College Hill school, and had lived in Hillsboro since 1952. Prior to that time he had lived on his farm on the Old Fillmore road which had been in his family for over 125 years.
He married Bernice Frame on Sept. 15, 1928 in Hillsboro, and she died. On July 27, 1952 he married Regina Murphy in St. Agnes church, Hillsboro and she survives. Also surviving are one son, Bill Fath of rural Hillsboro, four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Melville of Westville, Ind., and Maynard of Springfield.
Mr. Fath was a member of the Moose lodge for 30 years.
The Rev. George Cranfill of Hillsboro will conduct funeral services at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 12, in the Patton Memorial home, Hillsboro. Burial will be in Oak Grove cemetery, Hillsboro. Friends may call after 2 p.m., Friday, April 11. Family members suggest that memorials be given to the Senior Citizens of Montgomery county.
