He was born Dec. 10, 1953, at Oak Park, Illinois, to the late George and Dorothy (Perry) Chrisman.
Rodney graduated from Crawfordsville High School in 1973 and on March 29, 1975, he married the love of his life, Judy L. (Crispin) Jenkins, who survives. Rodney worked 37 years for the Crawfordsville Street Department and was the Street Commissioner and worked seven years at the Montgomery County Highway Department as the Highway Director.
He was a proud member of the NRA and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, racing and loved animals.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Judy Jenkins of New Ross; son Rodney L. Jenkins Jr. of Crawfordsville; mother-in-law Barbara Edwards; three grandchildren, Cole Jenkins, Jaimie Reed and Samantha Reed; great-granddaughter Ivy Logsdon; brother Terry Chrisman; step-brother Jim Chrisman; two step-sisters, Freda Melvin and Patty Sarver; and brothers- and sisters-in-law, Garry (Karen) Crispin, Cindy Edwards, Ralph (Cheryl) Edwards, Amy Polly and Jill (Clay) Adams.
He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law Charles Crispin; step-father-in-law Carl Edward; step-mother-in-law Doris Crispin; sisters-in-law, Laurie Turpin, Elizabeth Vannice and Patti Wray; and brother-in-law Doug Edwards.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18 at Sanders Priebe Funeral Care, 315 S. Washington St., Crawfordsville. Burial will follow at Pisgah Cemetery outside New Ross.
