One of her greatest joys was being Meme to her 4 grandchildren: Rachel, Ryan, Emily, and Henry Coyer. Nothing brought her more alive than being around them. Jan attended Barboursville High School and Marshall University. Professionally, she was instrumental in the starting of Valley Health Systems here in Cabell County, built the Women's Health Alliance in Indianapolis and became the practice manager, and retired from University of Pittsburgh Medical. She was an advocate for Women's health issues and was instrumental in passing legislation allowing women to use their OB/GYN Doctors as their primary care doctors in the state of Indiana. Jan loved football and she had an uncanny ability to connect with the players Larry coached. They loved her and she loved them right back. She was a very private lady and loved having fun with her friends. We would like to thank Molly Teerlink for her friendship and dedication to Jan and Larry over the years, and also the doctors, nurses, and staff of Indiana University North. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at Klingel-Carpenter Mortuary, Huntington, WVa. with visitation from 1 p.m. until service time. Interment will follow in Greenbottom Cemetery, LeSage, WVa. In lieu of flowers, it is suggested memorial contributions be made to the Salvation Army in Jan's memory.
