Brenda Collins Lee, 61, of Alazan, left this worldly home and united with her Lord and Savior in the early morning hours of Monday, August 13, 2018, while surrounded by her loving family. Services will be held at 3:00pm on Thursday, August 16, 2018 at Laird Funeral Home with Bro. Tim Brewer and Pastor Noel Dear officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00pm – 8:00pm on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at Laird Funeral Home.
Brenda was born and raised in the Harmony community and attended Nacogdoches High School. From an early age, she was saved and loved Jesus Christ. She was strong in her faith and spoke of His word daily. During her teenage years, she caught the eye of a young fella, Mike Lee, and when he asked her on a date, she gladly accepted. This is where their amazing love story began. On April 2, 1976, they sealed their lives together as they took their vows at Harmony Missionary Baptist Church. The birth of their two daughters, Jennifer and Wendy, were amongst her most joyful days. Watching the girls grow up, she took great pride in teaching them life lessons, which included cooking, hard work, farming, and independence. The one, most important thing she taught them was to love Christ and be godly wives. She enjoyed watching as they both married men who became an integral part of her family. Brenda’s heart overflowed with the birth of her two grandchildren, Ally and Logan. She spent each day teaching them just as she did her girls. Ally and Logan were blessed to have their “Granna” and will forever be blessed with the precious memories they made together.
Brenda and Mike were best friends, and she happily stood by his side, supporting him in every way. Mike spent each day ensuring her happiness, which included getting her an enclosed cab John Deer mower, that she absolutely loved! He sweetly nicknamed Brenda “Ben” and often referred to her as “my girl”. Brenda’s complete happiness evolved around Christ, the girls and their families, her grandkids, and Mike with the life they established on the farm. She was also blessed with some of the closest and dearest friends, who have been by her side during many times in her life. These special friends include Debbie Collins, Jan Curbow, Trish Boyd, Sharon Lee, Robin Hayes and her precious granddaughter, Ally.
Brenda was a member of First Baptist Nacogdoches and was honored to be a part of The Prayer Room group. She was known for her sweet, giving spirit and her servant’s heart, as well as some of the best cooking in this part of the country. Her legacy of love, devotion and kindness will forever live on in the lives of her husband, children and grandchildren.
Brenda is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Mike Lee of Alazan; daughters, Jennifer Howard and husband, Cory of Alazan and Wendy Beck and husband, Corey of Nacogdoches; grandchildren, Ally and Logan Howard, of Alazan; mother, Patty Collins of Alazan; brothers, Thomas “Tommy” Collins and wife, Cathy of Houston and Danny Collins and wife, Debbie of Douglass; sister, Gail Howard and husband, David of Nacogdoches;
Pallbearers will be Logan Howard, Cory Howard, Corey Beck, Heath Bragg, Shane Lightsey, Alton Hayes, and Floyd Rambin. Honorary pallbearers will be Carl Williford, Donald E. Cagle, Howard Williamson, and Danny Collins.
