NACOGDOCHES — Patty Joe Collins, 89, of Nacogdoches, TX, passed away on May 8, 2022 in Garrison, TX.
Patty was born in Grand Saline, Texas to Joe Edwin and Edna Irl (Parker) Waddill on August 14, 1932. She went to high school at Grand Saline High and graduated in 1949. She was in band and was salutatorian of her graduating class. Pat was employed by Moore Business Forms and retired from there after 32 years of employment. She enjoyed sewing and was an avid reader. Pat loved to travel with First Baptist Church Seniors. She was a member of First Baptist Church and was involved in many church clubs and held many positions in the church. Pat taught Sunday school for over 60 years and taught in the SOS, Savior First/Others Second, Self, and ESL classes. She also enjoyed participating as a longtime member of the Lighthouse Singers. Pat loved the Lord and her family with everything she had.
Left to cherish her memory are sons, Thomas Collins and wife, Cathy, Danny Collins and wife, Debbie; daughters, Gail Collins-Howard and husband, David; son-in-law, Mike Lee; brother, Carrol Waddill and wife, Janey; grandchildren, Chad Collins, Jana Collins Rodriquez, Chris Arnold Butler, Jennifer Lee Howard, Wendy Lee Beck, Collin Howard, Kelvin Collins, Kevin Collins, Shawna Collins, and Keri Collins; 18 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Pat is preceded in death by her parents, Joe Edwin Waddill and Edna Irl (Parker) Waddill; and daughter, Brenda Collins Lee.
Funeral service will be held at Laird Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 11, 2022, at 10:00 am with Pastor Emeritus Dr. Allen Reed and Dr. Noel Dear of First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow on Wednesday, May 22, 2022, at 3:30 pm at Creagleville Cemetery, Grand Saline, Texas. Visitation will be held at Laird Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Laird Funeral Home will be handling the funeral arrangements.
