1969 - 2018
❦ Early Life: Wendy was born May 20, 1969, in Murray, Utah, into the loving family of Theron and Vicki Mayhew Wood, the second of their eight children. Wendy and her six brothers and one sister had an amazing childhood full of camping, fishing, fun times with cousins, along with visits to their Grandma Boam and Grandpa and Grandma Mayhew. They moved to Alpine, Utah, when Wendy was a little girl, where she grew up with her lifelong, best friends.
❦ Life's Work | Service | Interests: Wendy had a love for the world. She spent her time in nature: hiking, skiing, mountain biking, boating and traveling to beautiful places. She was the sweetest friend to so many people that cherished and admired her. She was the most amazing example of loving unconditionally and serving selflessly. She had a never-ending concern for others' well-being, even in the face of her own life-threatening storm. She put every bit of energy into loving her family and she was exceptional at making them all feel loved. On the passing of his beloved wife, Ricky said, "Today, this world lost an angel. Words fail to express my love for this beautiful woman. Her courage and dignity in the face of insurmountable strife make everything I have ever witnessed pale." Ricky meant the world to Wendy. He loved and took care of her through two cancer battles. He never complained or missed a single doctor appointment. Her daughter, Kelsie, was her best friend in the whole world. They have a deep connection, they are true soul mates. Her huggybear, Taylor, missed the first two years of her cancer battle while he was serving a mission in Ukraine. Also, Wendy's cherished baby, Tinkerbell, her cat of 15 years. On the day of Wendy's passing, "Tink" was snuck into the hospital to spend those final hours snuggling with her mama. Wendy battled breast cancer for nearly three years and is now free from pain and suffering. The world lost an angel on the morning of August 9, 2018, when Wendy Wood Reece-Hood peacefully passed away in the loving arms of her husband and two children. She was 49.
❦ Family Message: "We are forever grateful for her example, she has been a true blessing in our lives. It is heartbreaking to lose someone so incredibly perfect. We know we will be reunited again one day. She always believed in the good things coming, and so do we. We love you forever and ever, Mom."
❦ Survived By: Wendy leaves behind the three people she loved most. Her husband, Ricky Hood; her daughter, Kelsie; and son, Taylor.
