He was born in Sangerville on September 29, 1947, a son of the late Glen Randolph and Ola Virginia (Smith) Foster.
Ray was a farmer and worked in several area hatcheries. He was a member of Sangerville Church of the Brethren.
He was united in marriage on March 12, 1971 to Mary Ellen (Yankey) Foster.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Anita Shank and husband Fred, Jr., of Bridgewater and Jill Hoover and husband Roger, II, of Penn Laird; two sons Brent R. Foster and wife Jeanette, of Bridgewater and Neil Foster and wife Abi, of Mt. Solon; a sister, Brenda Wine and husband Jeff, of Dayton; a brother, John Foster and wife Lula, of Waynesboro. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, Damian Moyers and wife Brooke, Dylan Moyers, Eston Foster and fiancee Autumn Dellinger, Hanna Foster, Nora Shank, Owen Shank, Glen Foster, Lane Shank, Ben Hoover, and Emma Foster.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Garland Foster.
Services will be private.
