Dr. Sprunt was a retired Washington ophthalmologist and a former chairman of the department of ophthalmologic pathology at Washington Hospital Center. He graduated from Davidson College in 1937 and received his medical degree from the Harvard Medical School in 1941. He spent the next six years as a flight surgeon in the Navy Medical Corps, and during World War II he served in the Pacific. In 1947, Dr. Sprunt settled in the Washington area. He died at his home at age 75. He had amyloidosis, a disease that affects organs and bone marrow.
