84 year old Reverend Robert Jewell Presley of Smithville passed away Tuesday at his residence. He was a minister for 55 years and a member of the Peoples Pentecostal Church.
The funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Love-Cantrell Funeral Home. Jason Nunley, Thomas Hewell, and Timothy Simmons will officiate and burial will be in DeKalb Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 4-8 p.m. and Friday from 10 a.m. until the service at 2 p.m.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elijah Joseph and Shelly Lawrence Presley; daughter, Patsy Ann Rachel; a son, Robert Dwayne Presley; grandsons, Robert Jewel Presley and Richard Justin Presley; son-in-law, Timothy Corey; and four brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Eula Lawson Presley of Smithville. Seven daughters, Phyllis and James Brown of Sparta, Jackie and Larry Worley of North Carolina, Linda and Thomas Theiss of Smithville, Evie and Jeffery Miller of Ohio, Pamela Corey of Smithville, Teresa and Timothy Simmons of Illinois, and Babbie Presley of Smithville. Twenty four grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren, and 27 great great grandchildren survive along with a brother, Donald and Joy Presley of Columbus.
