Velma Parker, 76, beloved Mother and Grandmother, was called to her eternal resting place on August 5, 2018. Velma entered this world on April 23, 1942 in Idalou, TX, born to L.E. and Leonora Howell.
She attended elementary through high school in the Idalou school system where she graduated with the class of 1960. She attended Lubbock Christian College. She worked for 3rd and Dwight Church of Christ as the secretary for 12 years. She was married to Jack Parker in Idalou, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her father L.E. Howell, mother Leonora Andrews Howell, sister Inez Terry, sister Baby Evelyn, brother Jr. Howell, brother George Howell, and spouse Jack Parker.
She is survived by her daughter Debbie Wood; son-in-law Chad Wood, grandsons Haesten and Heath Wood, granddaughter Hannah Wood, and eight nieces and nephews.
Velma’s passions in life centered around her love for God, her grandchildren, and being a Christian example to others. She will be greatly missed by many.
Memorial funds may be given to the Lubbock Children's Home or the Humane Society of Odessa.
Viewing will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at Harkey Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at Harkey Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at Third and Dwight Church of Christ in Monahans, Texas with Billy Reed officiating, burial will be held at 4 pm at Idalou Cemetery in Idalou, Texas.
