He was the son of John Woods Adams and Elizabeth Sharp Adams
ADAMS
Mr. A. S. Adams, one of the landmarks of this county, quietly passed away Monday night at his home, three miles from town on the Perryville pike, in the eighty-fifth year of his age. The farm on which he lived and died was settled by his grand-father in pioneer days and had never been out of the family. Mr. Adams had the respect and confidence of those who knew him to an extent enjoyed by few men in this life. For many years he had been deacon in the Presbyterian church, and was also a director in the Mercer National Bank until infirmities of age necessitated his relinquishing business cares. An aged wife and several brothers survive him. Funeral services, conducted by Dr. J. G. Hunter, were held at the First Presbyterian church Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, and the interment took place in Spring Hill cemetery.
