Shock of Auto Collision Fatal to North Topeka Woman.

The first automobile fatality of the year in Shawnee county occurred Sunday morning when Mrs. Barbara Lambrecht, 76 year old North Topeka woman, died of shock resulting from an automobile collision.

Mrs. Lambrecht was returning from church to her home on route 3, west of Calhoun Bluffs, in an automobile driven by her son, John Lambrecht. Lambrecht was driving east, on the south side of the highway, and when he came to his driveway, opening on the north
side of the road, he turned across. At that moment Willard Breidenthal, president of the Riverside State Bank, of Kansas City, Kansas was coming from the east, en route to Topeka for a conference with bankers. He sideswiped the Breidenthal car, altho he turned sharply in an effort to miss the machine.

He aided in carrying the aged woman to her home, and she died shortly after the accident. According to Dr. H. L. Clark, county coroner, an inquest probably will be held. Dr. Clark said that Mrs. Lambrecht's death unquestionably came from shock; that she bore one small scratch and, aside from that, showed no sign of having been in an accident.

Visibility was poor Sunday morning, the steady rain and cloudy weather combining to make driving difficult. Mrs. Lambrecht had lived here about twenty-two years.

She leaves three sons, John of the home address; Peter, of Chicago, and Alexander, of Colorado; two daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Schwind and Mrs. Mary Kippes, both of Colorado.
