Ruby Wright Lawson, born April 30, 1928 went home to be with her Lord & Savior on August 3, 2018. Mrs. Lawson was of the Church of God faith spending countless years teaching Sunday School, leading choir music and hours of diligent Bible study. She retired from the Tennessee Valley Authority after many years as a secretary. Aunt Ruby will long be remembered for her love of gardening, preparing produce for the upcoming year ahead and her love and service to her family.

Mrs. Lawson is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years Kermit O. Lawson, sons Richard M. Lawson and James P. Lawson, four brothers Homer (Maddie Lou), Howard (Evelyn), Delmas (Nellie) and Carl (Marie) Wright, four sisters Rose (Jack) Finney, Linnie (Herman) Friddel, Anna (Carl) Beavers and Jessie (Donald) Goodwin.

Surviving to morn her passing is two daughters Portia Lawson, D’Nice (Stephen) Carden and grandchildren Kimberly (David) Scroggins, Sarah Zimmerman and Christopher (Jessica) Cavalaris, five great grandchildren and multiple nieces and nephews.

A celebration of her life is planned for Tuesday evening, August 7, 2018 at 6:00 PM in the chapel of Companion Funeral Home of Athens located at 400 S White Street in Athens, TN with the Reverend Charles Kilgore officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday afternoon from 4:00 PM until the 6:00 PM service time.

The burial will follow the service on Tuesday evening in the Cofer Cemetery in Georgetown, TN with Frank Wright, Frank Friddell, Danny Kachel, Mathew Kachel, Jason Richey and Adam Kachel serving as pallbearers.
