Jessie Faye Goodwin, 77 a lifelong resident of Birchwood, TN passed away on Thursday afternoon, January 15th, 2015 in an Athens hospital.

Jessie was born in Birchwood on July 8th, 1937 a daughter of the late Hershel and Millie Wright.

She was 1955 graduate of Birchwood High School. Jessie was of the Church of God faith. She enjoyed music, gardening, cooking, sewing, but most of all was a devoted homemaker who enjoyed taking care of her family.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two grandson, Gordon Murphy and John Nicholas Hood, four brothers, Homer, Howard, Delmas and Carl Wright, three sisters, Linnie Friddell, Ann Beavers and Rosie Lawson.

Jessie leaves behind to cherish her memory four children, Tony Phillips and his wife Susan of Georgetown, Sharon Hood of Decatur, Michele Hardy of Dayton and Gloria Baker of Decatur, one sister, Ruby Lawson of Athens, four step children, Steve Millard (Linda) of Georgetown, Dennis Goodwin of Cleveland, Cheryl Schwartz (Murl) of Middle TN and Cindy LeRoy of Birchwood, five grandchildren, Tony Phillips Jr. (Krista) , Tina Weatherbee (Andrew), Jessica Broyles, Mary Broyles and Ashley Miller (Scott), seven great grandchildren, Aaron Womack, Brad, Ethan, Michael & Leslie Hood, Raiden Phillips and Maddux Miller, numerous other extended family members and a host of special friends.

A celebration of her life is planned for Sunday, January 18th, 2015 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Companion Funeral Home located at 2419 Georgetown Road in Cleveland, TN. Interment will follow in the McInturff Cemetery in Birchwood with Frank Friddell, Frank Fridell Jr., Michael Fridell, Scott Miller, Mickey Robinson and Thomas Howard serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel on Saturday evening, January 17th, 2015 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.

Companion Funeral Home and the Cody family are honored to assist the Goodwin family with her arrangements.
