V.J. was very active in the community, having served on many committees such as County Farm Bureau Board, Farmers Home Administration Board, Soil Conversation Committee, Ag Stabilization Committee and many others. He served for more than 24 years on the County Court, which is now the County Commission with most of that time spent as Judge Pro-Tem and chairman of the budget committee. Many huge accomplishments were made during his tenure as he had a progressive attitude combined with a good business sense.
Besides his passion for farming and civic service, he loved to ride horses and hunt both coon and squirrel.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Carol Dodson of Pleasant Hill, TN who will remember him always as her soulmate, her best friend and her everything. He was to her a one of a kind, who every morning would tell her how beautiful she was and that she was his cowgirl, and she would in turn tell him, he was her cowboy. Even when he could not speak, he still tried so very hard to tell her.
He is also survived by his sons- Jeff Dodson and his wife Brenda and David Dodson and his wife Kim, daughter- Jan Baker and her husband Randy, eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren, stepsons- Randy Brewer and his wife Tiffany and Stanton Brewer and his wife Mary Ann, step grandchildren- Brianna, Ronnie, Elizabeth, Kayla, Destiny, Haley, Madison and Emma, sister- Anna Ruth Tucker and many nieces and nephews.
