Anna Ruth Dodson Tucker, 88, of Mulberry, Florida and Pleasant Hill, passed away peacefully at her home in Mulberry on March 10, 2023. She was born to the late Venus Franklin Dodson and late Alla Mae Clouse Dodson on March 26, 1934 in White County, Tennessee. After attending Berea College and then marrying and starting her family, she earned a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education from Florida Southern College. Her entire public school career was at Kingsford Elementary in Mulberry teaching her favorite grade, Kindergarten. Anna Ruth was a beloved wife and mother and a long-time active member of the Mulberry United Methodist Church. She had many interests and most of them centered on her love of family. She had a great love of children and enjoyed keeping up with family history and events. Some of her favorite things were simple family heirlooms, such as handmade quilts and old canning jars handed down from generations before her. These things connected her to family, history, and traditions. Ever attached to her Tennessee roots, she looked forward to returning each summer to her childhood home in Pleasant Hill for the annual school alumni events and long visits with extended family and friends. Preceded in death by her husband William "Bill" Tucker, Anna Ruth is survived by daughters Laurel Tucker of Augusta, GA, Melinda Jardina of Lakeland, FL, Carolyn Miller and husband Kevin of Atlanta, GA, and son William "Jay" Tucker and wife Marcie of Lake Butler, FL; granddaughters Maria Anderson, Candace Brennan, Hannah Tucker, and Holly Tucker; 8 great-grandchildren; and 3 generations of cherished nephews and nieces. In addition to her parents and husband, Anna Ruth is also preceded in death by her brothers V.J. Dodson, Robert Dodson, and Bascom Dodson; and granddaughter Carolina Shuler. Interment will take place at New Pleasant Hill Cemetery on Friday, May 26, 2023 at 5:00 p.m. Friends and family are also invited to a memorial service and dinner in celebration of Anna Ruth's life which will follow at 6:30 p.m. at the Pleasant Hill Community House. Reverend Val Hattery of Mulberry, FL will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given in Anna Ruth's name to the Mulberry United Methodist Church, 306 North Church Ave., Mulberry, FL 33860; or in her name to the Pleasant Hill Historical Society, P.O. Box 264, Pleasant Hill, TN 38578, where all donations will go to Pioneer Hall Museum.
