Patricia J. Handel, 60, of Rock Falls, died Thursday, July 6, 2017, at CGH Medical Center in Sterling, surrounded by her loving family.

Patty was born Oct. 25, 1956, in Sterling, a daughter of Thomas Handel Jr. and Jacquelyn (Dayton) Handel-Peterson.

She worked at Self Help and loved to be with her friends. Patty adored kittens and enjoyed playing the Lotto. Her laughter was contagious and all who knew her loved to laugh with her. Patty cherished her family and loved anything that was pink or blue. She also loved the Lord.

Those left to honor her memory include her mother, Jacquelyn of Rock Falls; her significant other, Christopher Bannister of Sterling; her sisters, Debra Knapp of Sterling, and Mimi (Mario) Chavira and Christine (Clarence) Renner, both of Rock Falls; her brothers, Richard (Debra) Handel of Dewitt, Iowa, Lawrence (Andrea) Handel of Colona, and Michael Handel of Ina; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father and a sister, Susan.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Monday, followed by a prayer service at 2:30 p.m. Monday at McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls, with Deacon Larry Zitkus officiating. Cremation will follow.

A memorial has been established in her memory.
