Colleen Hunt Sorensen, 70, of South Jordan, Utah, returned to her Father in Heaven on Feb. 26, 2012.
Colleen was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt. Her home was always full of family, love, warmth and laughter and she was a source of great comfort and strength to others. You could not help but feel uplifted after talking with her. One of Colleen's greatest joys was to be surrounded by her family. Her desire to spend as much time with her loved ones is what helped her persevere for many years with her illness. Often relying on Heavenly Father for strength, she would daily share with her family her faith in, and gratitude for, her Heavenly Father. Colleen's well-read scriptures were one of her most cherished possessions in which she found hope, peace, solace and answers to prayers. She was a faithful member of the LDS church and a devoted daughter of God.
Colleen was born August 11, 1941 in St. George, Utah, to Max and Beulah Hunt. She was the tenth child in a family of twelve, beloved by her brothers and sisters. She married Norman Sorensen in the Salt Lake Temple on March 17, 1960 and they spent 34 years raising their family in Sugar House, Salt Lake City, before moving to South Jordan in 1994.
Colleen leaves a legacy of a wonderful family. She is survived by her husband, Norman; six children: Julie (Larry) Rust, Sheri (Bryan) Graham, Patrick (Sandra) Sorensen, Kindra (Adam) Catmull, Jodi Olsen, and Daniel (Alison) Sorensen; one brother; eight sisters; 20 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 2, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the River Ridge First Ward at 10200 South 1300 West in South Jordan. There will be a viewing at the Ward building held prior to the services from 9:30 a.m. - 10:45am. The burial will be at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
