Barbara Ann Martin, age 76, of Mattoon passed away at 6:42 p.m. on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at St. Johns Hospital in Springfield, IL. Funeral Services honoring her life will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at Schilling Funeral Home with Reverend Russ Sanderson officiating. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens. Visitation for family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 22, 2016 at Schilling Funeral Home. An additional visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Barbara was born on November 26, 1939 in Mattoon, IL the daughter of Russell and Beulah (Eveland) Huckaba. "She married Jack Lee Martin on June 7, 1969. He preceded her in death on November 27, 2013. Survivors include her daughters, Traci (Harold) Downs of Aurora, IL and Jackie (Mike) Wake of Mattoon, IL; grandchildren, Harold Downs III, Christina Downs, Katie Downs, Jaelynn Wake and Landon Wake; brother, Clarence Huckaba. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and a stillborn sibling. Barbara worked in manufacturing and retired from General Electric. She was a member of the Marshall Avenue Christian Church and a former member of the Women of the Moose. Barbara loved the Golden Girls and the Yankees. She loved all of Gods creatures especially cats. Barbara treasured her time spend enjoying nature. She was a talented writer of poetry and focused much of her writing on the beauty of the outdoors. Most of all, Barbara was family centered and loved spending time with her entire family especially her grandchildren. Barbara was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed. Memorial donations in her honor are suggested to the Diabetes Association.
