Richard was born in and group up in Dubuque, Iowa. He served in the Air Force. After his military service Richard married Doris Dauzat and raised his family in the Pineville, Louisiana area. Richard worked as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service until retiring. Richard enjoyed woodworking, horseshoes, playing cards, and golf. He enjoyed being with his friends and family.
Richard is survived by his wife, Doris, his sons and their wives, and three grandchildren. He is also survived by siblings Allan (Geri), David, Barbara (Melvin), and Linda (Mike), numerous nieces and nephews, and brother in law Dan Tuegel. He was preceded in death by his parents, his granddaughter Katherine Ann, and his sisters Sandra and Donna (Dan) Tuegel.
