Tanner of Westfield, New Jersey.

Nathaniel Baker was baptized June 1, 1718 at East Hampton, Suffolk County, New York, and married his first wife Abigail at the Congregational Church there on October 5, 1740. By 1740 he already resided on 100 acres in Elizabethtown (now Westfield), "where his house stands", which was confirmed to him by his father Daniel's will. On December 30, 1785 Nathaniel wrote his will which was proved August 6, 1787 (New Jersey Wills, Liber 29, page 391). He left ½ of his tanyard along with 4 acres of land to his son David Baker, and the other ½ of the tanyard along with 10 acres to his son Daniel Baker. The remainder of his estate, both personal and real, was left to all his sons and daughters.

Nathaniel and Abigail's second child and eldest daughter was Abigail Baker (born November 29, 1742), who married John Briant (1739-1801) on May 9, 1762 at the Presbyterian Church in Westfield, and their descendant, Todd Whitesides, compiled this brief biography.

Though in old age, allow it's a grave loss
