Gary Gene Jenkins passed on to be with the Lord on July 20, 2018 to enjoy his heavenly reward for a life well lived, just eleven days from his 75th birthday.

Gary was born to Fred and Elva in Wichita, Kansas on July 31, 1943. After battling Parkinson’s disease for over 9 years, he is finally at peace.

Gary received his Bachelor’s Degree from Milligan College in Johnson City, TN in 1965 and his Master’s Degree in Religious Education in 1967. He was a Christian Church minister in churches in TN, OH, IN, PA, IL, and OK. He loved youth ministry, as well as preaching the Word.

He wrote one children’s book and several other books, enjoyed many friends over the years. He loved gardening, was a painter in oil and watercolors, as well as chalk art, and enjoyed archery and fishing. He was an active worker in Christian camps, enjoyed starting new churches, was a member of Christian Church men’s ministries, and numerous other groups.

Gary is survived by his wife of 54 years, Janet Jenkins; his son Chad Jenkins, his wife Becky and their children Olivia, Nathan, Megan, and Sarah; his daughter, Autumn Sorrell, her husband Cadmus and their children Adam and Jordan; and many other cousins, nephews, nieces, friends and loved ones.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Larry Jenkins, and grandson Grant Jenkins.

Visitation for Gary will be from 12pm to 5pm on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home in Del City. Funeral services will be at 1pm Thursday, July 26, 2018 at Draper Park Christian Church in OKC. Burial will follow at Arlington Memory Gardens in OKC.
