With her loving family by her side, Carolyn Lorraine Meagher Burns passed away on July 7, 2018. Carolyn was born in Whitwell, Tennessee and graduated from high school in Oak Ridge in 1963. Having begun playing violin at a young age, she continued her love of music into adulthood and studied music theory at Tennessee Wesleyan College. Two years later, she transferred to the University of Alabama where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics. Soon after college, she married her life partner, Ralph; this summer would have been their 50th wedding anniversary. Four children later, Carolyn returned to university to earn a Master’s degree in math education and subsequently taught math in Huntsville area schools for many years. In her retirement, she enjoyed traveling with Ralph, genealogical research, volunteer work, social clubs, and time with friends and family. She particularly loved spending time with her precious grandbabies.

Mrs. Burns was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Burns; her daughter, Rebecca Bell Burns; and her parents, Arch and Hazel Meagher.
