Charles D. Mercadante, who retired from the Atlantic Steel Castings Co. in 1950 after about 40 years of service, died Friday in the Delaware County Memorial Hospital, Upper Darby.

He lived at 411 Thatcher Road, Springfield.

Mr. Mercadante came to this country from Italy in 1905 and was husband of the late Anastasia McEntee. He was entered into the Delaware County Bowling Hall of Fame in 1958.

He was a member of Benevolent Protective Order of Elks Chester Lodge No. 488 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Chester Aerie No. 159.

Surviving are four sons, Joseph of Middletown, Robert of Chester, William of Brookhaven and Raymond of Claymont; three daughters, Mrs. Mary Cardile of Ridley Park, Mrs. Jean Edge and Mrs. Dorothy Feeley, both of Chester; a brother, John of Lewes, Del.; 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at the John E. Carr Funeral Home, E. 21st St. at Providence Ave., Chester.

High requiem mass will be sung at 10 a.m. at St. Kevin's Church, Springfield. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Yeadon.

Calling hours will be Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
