She was born on October 7, 1927 in Trenton, TN to Roscoe Dowland and Ida Dowland.
She graduated from Union University with a degree in English, was a member Chi Omega fraternity and met her husband Harold who had just returned from serving in World War II.
After graduating, they settled in Vestavia Hills, AL and raised their family. She was a member of Shades Mountain Baptist Church for 60 years. She retired from the City of Homewood. Our Mother was our Christian example, an awesome cook and the quintessential Southern lady.
She was predeceased by her husband Harold, a sister Dorothy Hays (Irvin Hays) of Memphis, TN, and her parents Roscoe and Ida Dowland of Trenton, TN.
She is survived by her son Beck Bryant (Patricia Bryant) of Maryville, TN; her daughter Celia Kersh (Cecil Kersh), of Birmingham, AL; a grandson Daniel Lowe (Jennifer Lowe) of Birmingham, AL; a granddaughter Deborah Weber (Joseph Weber) Great Granddaughter Amelia Weber of Birmingham, AL and 2 nephews, David Hays and Wayne Hays of Memphis, Tennessee.
