OTTUMWA — Naomi C. Riggs, 92, formerly of 512 N. Adams died at 12:30 p.m. April 28, 2007 at the Good Samaritan Nursing and Rehab Center.


She was born August 17, 1914 in Ottumwa, Iowa to Daniel and Barbara West Bishop. She married David Riggs October 14, 1941. He preceded her in death September 30, 1987.

She worked 45 years at John Morrell and Company and was head cook of their cafeteria for 21 years, retiring in 1973. She was a member of Trinity Church of the Nazarene.

Surviving are two sons, Richard (Shirley) Dunbar of Spearfish, South Dakota, David (Donna) Riggs, Jr. of Fairmont, Minnesota; a daughter, Beverly Comer of Ottumwa; 12 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; 16 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a grandson; a great-great granddaughter; a brother, Lester Bishop and four sisters, Mary Robertson, Leona Kirby, Beatrice Berry and Faye Merryfield.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Reece Funeral Home with Rev. Eugene Smith and Rev. Grover Branson officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.

Visitation will begin after 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.

A memorial has been established to Trinity Nazarene Church.
