Minister Steve Jordan was born on November 3, 1950 in San Francisco, California to the parents of Joseph Jordan Jr. and Melba Jordan. His family moved to Longview, Texas in 1966. Steve answered God’s calling to the ministry while attending East Texas Baptist College in Marshall, Texas where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology. He loved and served the Lord faithfully with a passion of telling others of God’s greatness.

In 1973, he met and married the love of his life Beverly. This union of 42 years was blessed with five children.

In 1974, he joined the United States Army and faithfully served our country for 20 years retiring from active duty in 1994. During his time of service, he received numerous awards and meritorious medals. Not being content to just relax and enjoy retirement, he went to work for the Hillcrest Counseling Center, Lawton Department of Human Services and The Red Cross. After ten additional years in the workforce he retired for a second time.

Prior to his passing, Minister Jordan and his family faithfully attended New Zion Missionary Baptist Church, shepherded by its Senior Pastor Reverend James E. Gorman. Minister Jordan served as the Senior Associate Pastor there. Before joining New Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Steve and his family attended St. Elmo Baptist Church. He also enjoyed singing with the choir. During his time in the military (both stateside and oversees), he was on the ministerial staff of various congregations serving as an associate pastor. Minister Jordan loved being a catalyst imploring all people to a personal relationship with God through His Son Jesus Christ.

Minister Jordan is survived by his wife Beverly and son Jeremiah, his daughters Regina Lomax and Donna Johnson and his son Faithlun (Lynnisha). Grandchildren, Patrick, Parisha, Sir, Lady; Dontrece, Jasmine (Jovanni), Sedrick, Kemberlee, Jakari, Brhianna, Montreal and Zion. Six siblings, Joseph Jordan III (Bridgette), Mable Thomas, Betty Jordan, Renee Jordan, JoAnn Jordan and Rayford Jordan (Jackie). He is also survived by seven great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

He is preceded in death by his maternal parents: Joseph Jordan Jr. and Melba Jordan; maternal grandparents Maude Della Reese and Charlie Reese: paternal grandparents: Rosie Thomas and Joseph Jordan Sr., and his daughter, Redonia A. Jordan.
