"Wayne R. Fowler(1940 - 2017) Wayne R. Fowler, 76, of Wapakoneta, and previously of Mooreland, Indiana, entered into eternal rest Aug. 12, 2017, at the Cleveland Clinic. He was born Dec 20, 1940, in Muncie, Indiana, to the late Wilbur "Shorty" and Eva Jane Winchester Fowler, who proceeded him in death.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters: Reva Deloris Fowler and Sandra Jo Arnold. Mr . Fowler was a proud 1959 graduate of Mooreland High School, Mooreland, Indiana. He retired from Dana Corp. in Lima after over 30 years of service, serving as an electrician, electrical supervisor, maintenance manager and facilities manager. Mr . Fowler was a Veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the U.S. Navy for over 11 years. His duty stations included shore duty at the Severn River Naval Command/U.S. Naval Academy, several surface vessels, and as a Naval Recruiter.
He was a member of the First Methodist Church in Wapakoneta, serving as Trustee, Building Manager and in many other capacities over the years. Additionally he was a member and past officer of Wapakoneta Hamer Masonic Lodge #167 F&AM and Past High Priest of Wapakoneta Chapter #173 RAM in Wapakoneta. A memorial service will be conducted at the First United Methodist Church, Wapakoneta on Sunday, Aug. 20, at 2 p.m. According to his wishes, Wayne's body has been donated to medical science. His ashes and spirit will be committed to the sea at a later date."
