Christ Altergott, beloved husband of Sophie; loving father of Katherine Groh, Dave, Henry, Julia Lehning, Fred, Sophie Simon, Emily Deckerdt, and John; stepfather of Mollie Lutzow; 35 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren. In state at Calvary Evangelical United Brethren Church, Gunnison and Lavergne avenues, until time of service.

Christian Algergott, son of Christian Altergott and his wife Elizabeth, bn. Borgardt, saw the light of day on June 10, 1872, in Schweden, Russia. He was baptized and confirmed in the faith. In 1893 he married Julia Pfeifer and their marriage was blessed with 10 children. His wife and two children preceded him in death. The family came to this country in 1907 and lived in Jefferson Park, Chicago, Ill. The deceased was a member of Calvary E.U.B. Church and regularly attended services and prayer meetings. Eight years ago he had a heart attack, and a few years later a second one, so that he had to spend 5 years in bed. He died on the 31st of October, 1960, at the age of 88 years, 4 months, and 21 days. His wife(second marriage)mourns him; his children, Mrs. R. Geoh(?), David, Henry, Fred, and John as well as Mrs. Julia Schning(?), Mrs. Sophie Simon, Mrs. Elsie Deckert, and Amalia Lutzov; 31 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren, and others. "Blessed are the dead that died in Christ."
