Julia was born to Emma Bastian and Homer H. Barron on August 8, 1895 in the little town of Washington, Utah. She was the third of ten children. In her role as sister, Julia was loving, helpful, and loyal. Her brothers and sisters meant a great deal to her and she kept in close contact with them almost all of her life. When Julia was a young girl, her family moved to Vermillion, Utah where she met her future husband, Fred Ovi Gledhill.
Julia married Fred on December 17, 1913 in the Manti Temple. Shortly after their marriage, Fred received a call to go on a mission. Julia returned to her parents' home and gave birth to her first child, Clifford. His father returned from his mission when he was two years old. More children were added to the family: Chad, Betty, Joy, Fred Jr., and Pearl. Julia was always there with good, hot meals, clean clothing, and a comfortable, clean home. She always had a song in her heart and on her lips. Her husband, children, home, and church were her life.
Julia's husband served as Bishop of their ward. When he was gone from home in this service, Julia and the little boys would milk the cows, take care of the livestock and gardens and the irrigating. In 1925 the family moved to California and became members of Hollywood Ward. Julia continued her role and friend and good neighbor. The children grew and matured. In 1955 Fred died. Life was never the same for Julia, but the role of grandmother was great therapy.
Julia Isabelle died August 25, 1974 in San Pedro, California and was buried next to her husband in Inglewood, California on August 28, 1974.
