Louis R. Bateson, 85, of Findlay and formerly of Jerry City, passed away at 10:04 a.m., Thursday, July 12, 2018, at the Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay. He was born on October 7, 1932, in Toledo to the late Lloyd and Mildred (Kitchen) Bateson. He married Shirley Eidson on May 29, 1965, and she survives. Louis is also survived by his son, Kent (Karen) Bateson of Matthews, NC; his daughter, Kimberly Bateson of Findlay; his grandchildren: Alex and Jonah Bateson. He was preceded in death by his brother, Donald L. Bateson; his sisters: Thea Beuthin and Evelyn Tyson. Louis retired after 30 years from Columbia Gas of Ohio. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran having served our country in the Korean War. He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Findlay, and enjoyed woodcarving in his spare time after retirement. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 17, 2018, at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay, with Pastor Mike McClurg officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Findlay. Visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m., Monday at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Church of the Nazarene, Findlay.
