He was born on September 19, 1926 to the late John Robert Moore and Magdalene Spencer Moore. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Emma Allen Moore; and sister, Pat Hall.
Chester was a member of Stone Memorial Christian Church for over 50 years and was an active member of the Silver Stone Seniors. He was also a former deacon of Stone Memorial and on the board of trustees as well.
Chester served in the United Sates Army in the South Pacific during World War II and was a military policeman and made expert rifleman. He enjoyed being a member of the Senior Walking Club at Jack Dalton Park. He retired from DuPont, but stayed very active with many things he enjoyed. Chester lived life to the fullest and shared Christ through his every action. We know he is receiving his many jewels for all his great works and the many seeds he has planted.
Chester is survived by his daughters, Phyllis Merricks (Danny) of Collinsville, Va. and Lisa Lancaster (Gil) of Collinsville, Va.; sisters, Esther Clement of Maryland, Donna Cooper of Florida, Joy Rouss (Joe) of Maryland, June Martin of Virginia, and Violet Owens of North Carolina; brothers, Dr. Frank Moore (Linda) of Virginia, Eldean Moore (Mignon) of Virginia, and Mike Moore (Judy) of North Carolina; grandchildren, Darren Merricks of Spokane, Wash. and Erin Merricks of Charlotte, N.C. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at noon on Monday, July 16, 2018 at Stone Memorial Christian Church in Collinsville, Va. with Pastor Tim Wood and Pastor Lawrence Harris officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. prior to the service and other times at the residence. Burial will be at Roselawn Burial Park.
