Arlene Lien, (88) formerly of Iola, passed away on July 11, 2018.
The youngest of three children, she was born on May 10, 1930 in Amherst Wisconsin to parents Chester Keffner and Myrtle (Shanklin) Keffner. She graduated from Amherst High School in 1948.
On August 14, 1954 she married Lowell (Buzzer) Lien at First Methodist Church in Appleton.
Arlene was a proud retiree of the Iola Scandinavia School District where she worked for decades as a custodian, fitness center helper and other various roles. Later in life, her fondest stories were of the times that she helped on the playground, volunteered and helped the elementary school children with reading or when she brought her ice cream maker into the classrooms to show the students how ice cream was made.
She also enjoyed having a big garden, crocheting, reading, making quilts out of wool from the sheep she raised, making lefse and rosettes and many other things.
Arlene is survived by her children: Alan (Vicky) Lien, Scott Lien, and Kari (Michael) Christoph. She is also survived by four grandchildren: Megan Heindl, Jennica Lien, Emily Christoph and Christopher Lien and three great grandchildren Kerrick Lien, Xandra Heindl and Axemai Heindl.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Myrtle Keffner, her husband Lowell (Buzzer) Lien, her brother Donald Keffner, her sister Joyce Schroeder and her grandson Matthew Lien.
A graveside service will be held on Friday July 27, 2018 at 11 A.M. at the Lower Amherst Cemetery.
