Obituary - Ira Hanks Allen, our father, passed away on July 12, 2018 just 73 days after his eternal companion.

Dad was born in Escalante, Utah on May 21, 1942. He was the fourth child to Ephraim Hanks Allen and Eva McInelly Allen

His family eventually moved to South Jordan, Utah where he played football for Bingham High School. Due to his skill he received a football scholarship to the U of U where he earned a bachelors degree. During this time he also served an LDS mission in Scotland, which he was very proud of.

Dads life was filled with adventure. He married our mother Barbara Ann Carter on August 28, 1964. He served in the military and missed the birth of his first child due to appendicitis while stationed in Death Valley.

As they raised their 6 children he was a Salt Lake City Police officer who was then transferred to the DEA. His next adventure was to open his own security business in Los Angeles, CA and then a manufacturing business in Lehi, UT.

Some of Dad's favorite times were spent with family in Escalante Utah visiting Calf Creek Falls, Moqui holes, Posey Lake and his childhood home.

Hank is survived by - Jim (Amy), Wendy (Chet), Greg (Trish), Bryan (Vicki), Doug, and Kristen (Rocky). His two living siblings - Eunice Groves and Tad (Terri) Allen, 14 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 18th at 11:00 am at the Draper 6th LDS Ward House on 1227 E Walden Ln, Draper, Utah. Viewing will be held from 9:30 - 10:30 am prior to the service. A viewing will be held Tuesday, July 17th from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Jenkins-Soffe 1007 W South Jordan Parkway, South Jordan, UT.
