Salt Lake City, UT-Susan "Timmy" Dinwoodey Burton died on July 6, 2018 due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Born November 7, 1939 in Salt Lake City to Paul and Betty Dinwoodey.
Timmy graduated from the University of Utah in 1964 with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Painting and Drawing, and was a lifelong, active artist. She married Richard ("Dick") Burton on June 30, 1962 and they enjoyed 56 years of wonderful marriage together. Timmy and her business partner Rose Pelton operated a very successful catering business, Custom Catering, for 25 years. She had a lifelong interest in fiber and textile arts, and was an active member of the Utah Surface Design Group, The Mary Meigs Atwater Weavers Guild, and The Utah Sewing Guild. Timmy had a keen curiosity, and traveled all over the world to further her interest in learning more about cooking, textiles and fiber arts. With her warm, generous spirit, she made friends everywhere she went. Timmy was a former board member of the Utah Museum of Fine Arts, and an active member of the Town Club in Salt Lake City, Utah. She supported many visual arts programs, especially the Visual Art Institute. Of all of her many philanthropic endeavors, Timmy had a special interest in the Utah College of Nursing and the Natural History Museum of Utah. Timmy is survived by her husband Dick and her brother, Devereaux Dinwoodey. A short graveside service will be held Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the Salt Lake City Cemetery (please enter the southwest corner of the cemetery at 200 North N Street). In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the University of Utah College of Nursing or the Natural History Museum of Utah.
Timmy loved her brother, and Timmy loved all people.
Timmy loved Dick and changed his life.
Timmy and Dick loved each other, and they always will.
