Melissa Ann Holt Peterson, 53, of Seaford, passed away on Monday, June 11, 2018, at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital where she lost her battle to cancer. Melissa was born at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford on Sept. 25, 1964, the daughter of the late James Holt Sr. and Ruth Nichols Holt. Melissa was a stay-at-home mom for most of her life and dedicated her days to being a loving wife, mother, and wonderful homemaker. She loved her family to the fullest! Her husband, kids and grandkids were the center of her world. In addition to her family, she had a love for animals. This passion to care for all animals led her to work at the Caroline County Humane Society for four years. The last four years of her life, Melissa looked forward to go-cart racing season where she loved to watch her husband, daughter, grandson, and brother-in-law race. She also looked forward to sitting with and talking with her sister-in-law, Trish Peterson who was her very best friend. Left to cherish her memory are her loved ones - her husband, Lonnie Peterson Sr.; son, Bobby Holt; daughter, Jessica Peterson; son, Lonnie Peterson Jr. and his wife Amber; daughter, Makayla Peterson and son, Vernon Davis; and her grandchildren, Damian, Dillion, Mariah, Lonnie III (3 Pete), Sofia and Haleigh. Also left to cherish her memory are her brother, Bill and his wife Bonnie, Nancy and her late husband Burton Sr., Jackie and his wife Susie, Timmy and his wife Michelle, and Fannie and her husband Mark. Numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many other loved ones survive her. In addition to her parents, Melissa was preceded in death by her sister, Linda Short, and her brother, James “Bo” Holt Jr.
