GLADYS HANNAWELL BROOKS
Mrs. A. L. Brooks died at her home at Colby, Wisconsin at eleven thirty o’clock Wednesday morning, February 18, 1920, of pneumonia following influenza.
Mrs. Brooks was brought to the home of her mother at Elroy. No public funeral was held. On Sunday, Rev. H. R. Kluley offered his services at the home, after with the remains were taken to the Elroy Cemetery.
Gladys Fay Hannawell was born in Richland County, Wisconsin and died in Clark County, Feb. 18, 1920 aged 28 years and 10 months. She graduated from the Elroy High School with the class of 1910. She taught in the schools of Juneau and Monroe Counties for three years, and on October 29, 1913 was married to Arbie L. Brooks of Sparta. They lived on a farm near Sparta for a time, then moved to Marshfield and from there to Colby, where she lived until the time of her death.
She leaves to mourn her loss a husband, Mr. A. L. Brooks, a little son, Robert, a mother, Mrs. Geo. Hannawell, five brothers, Raymond, Roy, Robert, and Donald of Elroy, and Lester of Atlanta, Georgia and two sisters, Laura of Elroy and Mrs. H. O. Seaton of Minneapolis.
Those from out of town were: Mr. L. Brooks and Elbert Brooks of Sparta; Mr. and Mrs. Bowen of Merrilan; Mr. and Mrs. Lester Hannawell of Atlanta, Georgia; Mr. and Mrs. H. O. Seaton of Minneapolis; Mr. and Mrs. M. C. Hannawell of Boaz; and Mrs. And Mrs. Burt Stettler of Mauston.
