Thelma Evelyn (Allen) Cannon, 95, of Duncan, Oklahoma passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 4, 2018 at her home in Duncan surrounded by her loving family.

Thelma Evelyn Allen was born on February 25, 1923 in Cement, Oklahoma to William Moore Allen and Mary Angelina (Riley) Allen. She graduated from Cement High School May 12, 1941 and a few months later, she married her husband William Nelson Cannon on July 10, 1941 in Anadarko, Oklahoma. Thelma was a full-time mother and housekeeper although she worked out of the house from time to time. Not only did she work on her parent’s farm while growing up picking grapes and cotton, etc. but she also worked with her mother-in-law in her laundry business, she worked in a bottling factory, she worked with her mother in her café and in a grocery store. She was an Avon lady, she took care of her sisters, her nine children, a lot of their friends as well as helped raise most of her grandchildren. She always had a house full of people and loved the company. She made many a meal, many, many goodies for school and church functions, canned many a jar of fruits and vegetables and made the best fried pies. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting, and reading. She was an active member Calvary Baptist Church in Duncan.
She was a Cancer survivor. She was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2002, underwent surgery and chemotherapy and in remission since 2003.

Thelma is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, William Cannon; her Father, William Moore Allen; her Mother, Mary Angeline (Riley) Allen-Sawyer; her daughter, Donna Hook; her grandchildren, Ronald Bruner, Tonya Williams, Evelyn Cannon; her great-great grandchild Mariah Kristine Kennedy; her sisters, Vernita Lois Patterson, Violet Jo Walker, Hazel Maxine Mallett, Betty Joyce Allen; her brother and sister in-laws, many nephews, nieces, cousins; and special best friends; Cuddles, Freckles, Pudgy, Panda, Hemi, and Timon.

Pallbearers will be Michael Cannon, Timothy Cannon, Henry J. Freimuth, Richard Olson, Clifford Olson, Robert Green. Honorary bearers will be Gary Cannon, Sonny Reynolds, Chris Salin, Steven Cappel, Jonathan Cappel, James Bruner, Paul Bruner, Willie Reynolds, Willie Paul Bruner, Spencer Bruner.
