Raymond Henry, 71, of Spartanburg, SC, and formerly of Newark, NY, passed away peacefully, surrounded by those he loved, on Sunday, July 1, 2018.

Born June 4, 1947 in Rochester, NY, son of the late Robert and Virginia Murphy Henry ; foster son of the late Ed and Rose Marvin, Sr. of Macedon, NY; husband of Shirley Harding Henry.

Graduate of Palmyra-Macedon High School, class of 1967; honorably served his country in the US Army, 82nd Airborne Division, in Vietnam from 1968-1969; was a lifelong member of the 82nd Airborne Division Association, the Golden Brigade Chapter, and the VFW, post 2883, of Newark, NY.

Enjoyed history and was an antique enthusiast, collecting carnival glass for the last 45 years. He could always be found sitting in the bleachers of his grandchildren's sporting events. Ray was a loving and supportive husband, father, and papa.

In addition to his wife, survived by his son, Scott Henry (Teresa); his daughter, Christine Chance (Chris); grandchildren, Raelyn Chance, Jackson Chance, Lucas Henry, and Nicholas Henry; and his brothers, David Henry and James DeHollander.

Predeceased by three brothers, Richard, Robert, and Donald Henry.

The family received friends Sunday, July 8, 2018 from 3:00 - 5:00 pm at Dunbar Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials could be made to the 82nd Airborne Division Historical Society, P O Box 70119, Fort Bragg NC 28307-0119, in support of the 82nd Airborne War Memorial Museum or to the charity of one's choice.
