He enlisted in the Indiana National Guard in 1948. He served in the 1st Battalion 293rd Infantry, retiring in 1988, as E-3 warrant officer, maintenance officer of OMS 10, Fort Wayne.
In 1950, Jack married Joan M. Hemmelgarn and they made their home in the Churubusco community. Upon retirement, they moved to Florida, enjoying the warmth and sunshine, where he built custom cars, furniture and jewelry. In 2017, they returned to Churubusco.
He is survived by the love of his life, Joan, sharing 68 years of marriage; two daughters, Deborah Nelson of Churubusco, and Rita (Steve) Ardhuerumly; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and his "Honey Dog" - Buttons. He was preceded in death by his brother, Guy Allman, and son, Christopher L. Allman.
Burial will be in Christian Chapel Cemetery, Merriam.
