John Michael Kistler was an Amish-Mennonite minister. He was born in Baden, Germany, and arrived in Butler, Co., Ohio, around 1830. He married Elizabeth Naffziger, the daughter of the Amish bishop Peter "the Apostle" Nafziger. He had 13 children. When some of his relatives died, John Michael set apart a portion of his property for their burial, which has now become the Greenwood Kistler Cemetery.
