Funeral services for Mr. Robert Paul Ware, age 76, will be held at 10:30 am, Tuesday, July 3, 2018, at Bailey Funeral Home, Haynesville, LA, with Pastor Gary L. Dackin officiating. Interment will follow in Ware's Chapel Cemetery, Emerson, AR under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held Monday, July 2, 2018, 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Bailey Funeral Home, Haynesville, LA.

Mr. Ware was born on September 1, 1941 to Raleigh Ware and Nannie Mae Hickman Ware in Shreveport, LA and passed away on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 in Emerson, AR. He was retired from the United States Army after 29 years of service. Paul always wanted to fly and became a pilot through the Army. Paul served three tours in Vietnam and was severely injured in Laos. He worked hard, overcame his injuries and returned to service. Paul served in the 1st Air Cav and the 82nd Airborne. He was particularly proud that he was chosen to command the 2nd of the 7th, the Gary Owen which was Custer's unit. While in college Paul commanded a team the national military parade drill. He provided personal military detail honoring Admiral Nemitz. He also commanded the 3rd Army Honor Board at the Presidio and presided over three thousand military burials. When President Johnson died, Paul was recalled to serve at his funeral. Paul was offered a command in Korea with a promotion to full colonel, but Paul chose to focus on his family instead. Paul was kind, charismatic and caring. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and brother

He is survived by his daughter, Cynthia Diane Dackin and husband Gary of Olathe, KS, two sons, Roger Wayne Ware and wife, Elaine of Overland Park, KS, Robert Glen Ware and wife, Kristin of Shawnee, KS; two grandsons, Travis Walborn, and Jack Ware; five granddaughters, Demmi Ware, Katie Ware, Heather Walborn, Sarah Ware, and Emma Ware; great grandchildren Hailey, Ava, Leah and Easton; four brothers, Bobby Ware and wife, Mary Beth of Emerson, AR, Prentice Dale Ware and wife, Sue of Marshall, TX, Billy Ray Ware and wife, Martha of Sacramento, CA, Carroll Ware and wife, Celeste of Mooringsport, LA and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Ware was preceded in death by wife, Dorothy Jean Ware; wife Dejuana Sue Ware; his parents; sister, Margaret Ross and brother-in-law, Walter Ross.

The family would like to give special thanks to Peach, Steve, and Tanyja for providing such good care and friendship to Paul during his illness and Decker at the Ware Chapel Cemetery.
