Served with the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division, his exploits during the war are documented in the HBO miniseries "Band of Brothers."

After his release from the service, he became an ordained minister, and also worked as a building contractor throughout the Wyoming, and Raleigh County areas, he was a member of the Beckley Confrence of Freewill Baptists, and the West Virginia State Association of Freewill Baptists, and attended the Skelton Freewill Baptist Church.

He was played in the series by Phil Barantini.
