He was the son of the late Erastus & Myrtie Garner Lawless, and the widower of Nellie McKinley Lawless. He leaves 29 direct living descendants.

Funeral service will be 2pmCT Thursday, June 28, 2018 at Bernard Funeral Home Chapel, 367 N Main Street, Russell Springs, KY with Dr. Mark B. Hale & Dr. Timo Karvonen officiating. Visitation will be from 10amCT to 2pmCT Thursday. Interment in the Mill Springs National Cemetery, 9044 West Highway 80, Nancy, KY, on Friday, June 29, 2018 at 12:30pmCT with full military honors by the Russell County Honor Guard.
