An Elston family was under quarantine after a 5 year old boy died of infantile paralysis.
The attending physician said that while he was not certain that it was of the epidemic type he decided to take every precaution. It was also learned that a suspicious case in the Centertown neighborhood had been discharged from the home only a few days ago.
Jimmie Bob Hackney, son of Mr. and Mrs. R.H. Hackney, residing between Elston and Centertown, complained of a sudden headache and nausea Tuesday afternoon while at play. The child became rapidly worse and the doctor immediately upon his arrival ordered a quarantine. The child died Sunday morning. The funeral took place this afternoon.
Besides the parents the boy is survived by a 3 year old sister.
Cecil Allen, 9 years old, of Centertown, was brought to the hospital ten day ago suffering from what doctors feared was infantile paralysis. He recovered, however, and was released Saturday.
Doctors said it was difficult to definitely determine the type of paralysis. One said so far there had been no new cases in the Elston Centertown neighborhood. "We therefore have every reason to believe that it is not the epidemic form," he declared.
